Basic Information
Spiramycin (Rovamycin) is a macrolide antibiotic produced by Streptomyces ambofaciens. It has anti-bacterial and anti-toxoplasma effects and has anti-parasitic effects. Spiramycin (Rovamycin) consists of 16 lactone rings attached to three sugars (Mycaminose, Forosamine and Mycarose).

pharmacologic action
Spiramycin free base is white to light yellow powder. Taste bitter, slightly soluble in water, soluble in many organic solvents. The potency is 2700 units per milligram. Its sulphate Chemicalbook is commonly used clinically, stable and soluble in water and ethanol. Antibacterial spectrum similar to erythromycin, tylobacin, streptococcus pneumoniae, pyogenic streptococcus, staphylococcus, meningococcus, mycoplasma and other antibacterial effect
Drug combination
1. Theophylline: the effect of theophylline can be enhanced, and the dosage of theophylline should be reduced when combined.
2. cefazolin: Spiramycin has a rapid antibacterial effect, which can significantly inhibit the rapid bactericidal efficacy of cefazolin by Chemicalbook.
3. Tallosin, kanamycin, quinolinol, bacitracin zinc, northromycin, virginiamycin, -flavamycin: they are not compatible with spiramycin and contraindicated.
